Undergraduates in interagency research on Sierran Bighorn Sheep

Undergraduate student participants quantify herb and shrub densities in modified Whittaker plots located within endangered Sierran Bighorn Sheep habitat in the eastern Sierra Nevada foothills. Students collected baseline data on all vegetation in control plots prior to a controlled burn intended to improve bighorn sheep forage conditions. The project is a joint effort between US Forest Service, California Department of Fish and Game, and the US Geological Survey.
