Students at Mono Lake, CA
UC Davis undergraduates at Mono Lake, California, learned how diversion of streams into the Los Angeles aqueduct caused a lowering of the lake level which threatened the fragile ecosystem of the Mono Basin and the migratory birds that depend upon it. This exemplified habitat degradation as a driver of rapid environmental change.
