Description

On May 15th, 2014, IGERT.org hosted a webinar, "Communication and Collaboration in Graduate Education and Research," presented by, Michael O’Rourke (Michigan State), Sanford D. Eigenbrode (Univ. of Idaho), J.D. Wulfhorst (Univ. of Idaho), and Stephen Crowley (Boise State). They are the editors of, Enhancing Communication and Collaboration in Interdisciplinary Research, and faculty/CoPIs of the Evaluating Resilience of Ecological and Social Systems IGERT at University of Idaho.

Webinar description:
Recently, SAGE Publications published the volume, Enhancing Communication and Collaboration in Interdisciplinary Research, a book that addresses the challenges of doing meaningful research with those from other disciplines who view the world and operate in it very differently than you do. In this collaborative webinar, the co-editors of this volume led a discussion of these challenges, inviting attendees to relate their own experiences with communication and collaboration challenges and situating these contributions in the context of the volume. The volume grows out of an IGERT project at the University of Idaho, and the special connections between the contents of the volume and IGERT were emphasized. The webinar also addressed the utility of the volume for those doing interdisciplinary work, emphasizing the resources it supplies that support the effective crossing of disciplines.
