Achievement

In 2008, one of our trainees, Kelly Perry, was selected for a second internship at Oak Ridge National Lab through the Higher Education Research Experiences (HERE). Her HERE internship allowed her to compete her Ph.D. research with instrumentation on the forefront of technology and the guidance of distinguished scientists and engineers. This internship was a direct outgrowth of IGERT activities. Based upon this excellent work, she was also recognized as an outstanding graduate student in polymer science and engineering. I had the privilege to present my original work at the Excellence in Graduate Polymer Science Research Symposium at the Spring 2008 National American Chemical Society meeting.
