Training students for diverse career paths

Among the 26 graduates to date, 15 (58%) are women and 5 (19%) are minority students. Of these, 13 (50%) are in academic faculty or post-doctoral positions; 7 (27%) are employed by federal/state agencies or NGOs (U.S. Fish Wildlife, Environmental Protection Agency, U.S. Forest Service, The Nature Conservancy), three (11%) are in private industry or consulting, one is employed by the American Geological Institute Public Policy Office, and two are continuing in education. Our program has been extremely successful in training students for diverse career paths, which is a major goal of the NSF-IGERT program.
