Achievement

The major educational activity (and achievement) of the project was obtaining approval for the environmental science graduate program. This was done by the Board of Trustees of the University of Puerto Rico on March 11, 2009 (Certification No. 49 2008-2009) and by the Council on Higher Education of Puerto Rico on May 20, 2009 (Certification No. 2009-093). The Certification from the Board of Trustees specifically acknowledged the financial support of the program from the National Science Foundation. It is very unlikely that the program would have been approved without the support from NSF. The program will start in August 2009.
