Research Achievements

Production of hydrogen via biological pathways

We created an interdisciplinary research team to work collaboratively on the production of hydrogen via biological pathways. This research team brings together faculty from two colleges, College of Arts and Science and the College of Engineering, and from Oak Ridge National Laboratory. The team allows a full suite of investigations to be performed including directed evolution of new microorganisms, laboratory evaluation of hydrogen production capabilities and modeling of protein complexes. This accomplishment creates a bioenergy research team from people who previously did not work together.
