Achievement

We have trained 12 high school teachers and 18 high school students in the Summer Nanoscience Academy. They have been exposed to a broad range of nanoscale sciences, including hands-on synthesis of nanoparticles, measurements of the optical properties, and the nanoscale characterizations using atomic force microscopy. They received lectures and demonstrations of advanced nanoscale fabrications and advanced electron microscopy. The high school teachers have also received training on how to teach nanosciences and how to find resources on the web for teaching high school students. Finally, this program has been certified by the Texas Education Agency as a Continuing Professional Education Provider. As such, the high school teachers received 24 hours of advanced academic training credits.
