Conference attendence generates new ideas

Thanks to the funding made possible by IGERT, during this academic year first year graduate student Vanessa Janowski was able to attend two conferences in her field of research - the Society for Neuroeconomics and the Cognitive Neuroscience Society annual conferences. Through her interactions with other researchers, she was able to discuss and generate a number of interesting ideas and questions that she is currently in the process of investigating as part of her PhD dissertation plans. In addition, the interdisciplinary courses available at Caltech thanks to IGERT have helped her to improve her knowledge of past and current research in decision-making and reinforcement learning, topics that are an integral part of her PhD.
