Adaptively learning and managing curriculum

Adaptively Learning and Managing our IGERT Curriculum. Our IGERT program evolves through adaptive learning, whereby we make our best effort, which is only partially successful, reflect on progress and shortcomings, revise, and try again. In the last two years IGERT trainees have assumed a leadership role in this learning process, whereby they identify the shortcomings and potential solutions and provide guidance on pathways to improvement. Our annual program evaluation session, led by the students, identifies problem areas and discusses potential solutions. Our autumn student-led retreat explores new learning opportunities and ways to implement these into the program, e.g., identifying outside speakers or special events. The combination of problem solving (spring evaluation) and program innovation (fall retreat) provides students with a range of learning and leadership opportunities.
