New course: Integrated Methods in Perceptual Science

The new two semester lab course, Integrated Methods in Perceptual Science, was initiated this year. It is taken by advanced students who have completed the foundational course work in human perception and computer science. Students worked in teams on different interdisciplinary projects they designed themselves. Each had psychophysical and computational/machine perception aspects. Projects were (1) designing a haptic interface for study of visual haptic perceptual interactions; (2) use of motion capture to study activity patterns during dance; (3) comparison of human and automated face recognition; (4) computational modeling of the 2D and 3D cues involved in the perception of object stability.
