Education Achievements

IGERT faculty work with students from Columbia

Other educational efforts associated with our IGERT included Balbuena’s work with senior Chemical Engineering students from the Universidad Nacional de Santander (UIS), Colombia, who spend one semester at TAMU to obtain their BS degree at UIS. Some of these students are in turn recruited to graduate school at TAMU, contributing to our Materials Science program, including one of the two students advised by Balbuena during this period. IGERT trainee Hartl co-developed and assisted in presentation of shape memory alloy training workshop for 15+ attendees at Texas A&M University, December 2008, and also developed and co-presented 4-part (8-hour) shape memory alloy training workshop for 20 attendees at Boeing Research and Technology, Seattle, WA, March 2009
