New $20M initiative at TAMU

IGERT co-PI Walton is co-PI and Deputy Director for Education overseeing Graduate and Postdoctoral Fellow programs for the Institute for Applied Mathematics and Computational Science Global Research Partnership, a new $20M initiative at TAMU in collaboration with the King Abdullah University for Science and Technology. IGERT advisor Efendiev is Leader for the "Forward Multi-scale Modeling and Simulation" core research theme of this program, closely tied to the multidisciplinary theme of our IGERT. CoPI Guermond and advisors Kuchment, Bangerth, and Lazarov are Executive Committee members and/or investigators in this program, as part of which a new Interdisciplinary Applied Mathematics graduate major was created this year. The IGERT student office was renovated so that next year IGERT students will work with students in the new interdisciplinary graduate program, through which we hope to carry forward many of the multidisciplinary curricular and programmatic features of our IGERT.
