Student exchange program with Israel

IGERT team member Seidman (Chemistry) has two student exchange programs with Israel to provide students with an opportunity to explore a different scientific and cultural environment and to make scientific ties overseas. One program, with the Tel-Aviv University focuses on the nano-sciences; a second with the Weizmann Institute is general in scope. As a consequence of the programs, two Israeli scientists have visited Northwestern to deliver lectures. An immediate goal is to extend the programs to benefit more students. In the longer term, she hopes to include the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and a Palestinian University. An IGERT student will have the opportunity to travel to Israel as well as have interactions with visitors working on coherent control of matter by light and on coherent (nonadiabatic) alignment.
