Interdisciplinary introduction to Green Chemistry course

We are currently teaching our interdisciplinary introduction to Green Chemistry. This three-unit graduate level class is required for all of our new SAGE fellows and is also open to students from across campus. This year’s class is focused on the evaluation of new bio-based energy sources. Each interdisciplinary team of 3-4 students is focusing on the development and adoption of a different emerging energy production technology and characterizing the technical, environmental, health, business and policy drivers and barriers. Experts from each of this field share their knowledge and teach student how to use the relevant tools from their discipline in a very interactive class setting. This approach supports student learning as they aim to write critical review articles about these technologies that will help them identify opportunities for future research projects.
