Core courses cross-listed by participating departments

One of the unique aspects of the RAP curriculum is the offering of several core courses that are cross-listed by the four participating departments. The popularity of RAP’s core interdisciplinary courses continues to grow among graduate students, including those not formally part of the IGERT. For instance, the proportion non-IGERT graduate students enrolled in RAP courses increased from 0% at the beginning of the program (2002) to greater than 50% last year (2012/2013). This increase is beneficial to the education of RAP students because of the greater exposure it provides to perspectives of graduate students beyond their home disciplines. This greater participation of students is beneficial to the RAP because it demonstrates the value of institutionalizing and cross-listing interdisciplinary coursework.
