Landscape models of watersheds provides management scenarios

Trainee Jessica Price partnered with the Nature Conservancy to produce spatially explicit landscape models of two ecologically valuable Midwestern watersheds with mixed ownership and management regimes. She used these models to help managers consider the landscape impacts of alternative management scenarios at each site. Price organized and facilitated workshops at her study areas, bringing together land management experts from various backgrounds and disciplines who manage portions of the landscape with differing goals and methods. Because Price received CHANGE training in cross-disciplinary communication, facilitation and group processes, she was able to comfortably lead workshops with participants who typically do not see eye-to-eye. Using expert feedback received during these meetings, Price has improved model performance, as well as the plausibility and legitimacy of her management scenarios. This collaborative scenario development will be featured in her dissertation.
