Trainee Achievements

Trainee spent 6 months at NSF and earned awards

Trainee Meredith Berthelson spent ~six months at NSF during this reporting period through the auspices of the QEM/NSF Tribal Colleges and Universities Program. During this period, her time was split between TCUP (in EHR) and the Division of Mathematical Sciences (DMS) at NSF. She gained knowledge on how NSF functions as well as shared her insights from being a former faculty member at Blackfeet Community College with both Divisions. She also worked on helping NSF tie together a possible shared funding opportunity between TCUP and DMS to increase the number of Native Americans pursing mathematics. Meredith also received a number of honors, awards, fellowships and scholarships including the Gerhard J. and Ursula G. bon der Ruhr Native American Scholarship; the Dennis R. Washington Native American Fellowship; The University of Montana Bertha Morton Scholarship; and The University of Montana Diversity Advisory Council Student Achievement Award.
