Training in writing proposals

Training in writing proposals has been an important priority for the MSU IGERT curriculum and all students are encouraged to submit fellowship proposals either as a part of their departmental requirements or as a part of the IGERT sponsored course in Proposal Writing (DGED 613). Several MSU IGERT students have submitted their own fellowship proposals since our inception, and recent successes are noteworthy. Mr. Z. Adam recently received an NSF Graduate Student Research Fellowship and M. Tigges received an honorable mention for her excellent application to the same program. In addition, H. Smith obtained fellowship funding from NASA. These recent successes speak to the excellent qualifications of specific students, as well as our emphasis on proposal writing and training in this area.
