Trainee leads workshops on earthquake education

Zach Adam, an Earth Sciences and Astrobiology IGERT student, led training workshops on the geosciences and earthquake education for scientists and teachers (grades 6-12) in Dushanbe, Tajikistan; Khorog, Tajikistan; and Shughnan, Afghanistan. Additionally Zach served as an Emergency Education Intern at Teachers Without Borders over the summer of 2011. Zach focused on the role of satellites in emergency preparedness and response efforts. As part of his internship Zach published ten lesson plans describing the Earth in the context of its space environment, teaching concepts related to space science and space technology with the theme of emergency preparedness.
