Achievement

LEAP students organized an interdisciplinary, student-run seminar series during the 2008-2009 academic year. Under the leadership of LEAP Fellow Basil Iaonne, 12 speakers were invited from numerous departments and disciplines across campus. Most speakers were graduate students, including LEAP Fellows. The format was a relatively informal, brown-bag series which allowed for extended discussion. Seminars were attended by graduate students as well as LEAP faculty members. In addition to graduate students, Cynthia Klein-Banai, UIC’s Associate Chancellor for Sustainability, presented UIC’s climate action plan to the group for input and discussion.
