Trainee participates in Student Pugwash USA chapter

In recent years, Tasha Zephirin has developed an interest in how research informs policy to enact change in our society and to what extent ethical, political, societal and economical considerations influence policy decisions. Due to activities in the field of nanotechnology through the IGERT-MNM, she has gained further interest in the ethical and societal implications of nanotechnology research and education. As a result of this interest, she started participating in activities with the local Student Pugwash USA (http://www.spusa.org) chapter at Purdue in the Spring semester and recently applied for and was nominated/confirmed as a Student Board Member for their Board of Directors. Student Pugwash USA (SPUSA) is an educational, nonprofit organization that strives to add a dimension to scientific study that goes beyond formulas and figures.
