New committee plans career exploration event

ICE IGERT rallied an inter-program Student Committee comprised of two IGERTs, the NIH Chemistry-Biology Interface program, and the interdisciplinary Molecular and Cellular Biology graduate program to plan a career exploration event entitled “The First Five Years: What to Expect?” Students invited a broad array of early career professionals to provide insights across a variety of industrial and academic career paths. Panel sessions and a sit-down networking luncheon offered tips about conducting effective job searches, navigating the interview process, landing that first job, and launching a productive career. The event attracted more than 100 students from ten departments and degree granting programs, including Chemistry, Molecular and Cellular Biology, Chemical Engineering, Polymer Science and Engineering, and Veterinary and Animal Sciences.
