Research in Tanzania, presentations, and manuscripts

LEAP training and funding allowed LEAP fellow Carrie Seltzer to finish collecting data at her field site in Tanzania, give three conference presentations on her research, set up a database for aggregating data on plant-animal interactions, and submit three manuscripts for publication. As part of her participation in LEAP, she also choreographed and filmed a dance that shows seeds (undergraduates) being dispersed by a giant pouched rat (Carrie). The video was posted online and submitted to the Dance Your PhD contest. She also co-authored a guide to seedlings in Tanzania that will allow local residents, project managers and students to more easily identify trees in their early growth stages.
