Resiliency model to improve disaster mitigation

IGERT Faculty members Liang, Ewing, and Mehta have developed an interdisciplinary proposal in which they plan to develop an engineering-economics based resiliency model to improve disaster mitigation and recovery. The objective of this research is to bridge the gap between understanding the extent of immediate losses caused by wind events and longer lasting economic impacts of such low-frequency high-consequence events. This research will expand the framework of quantifying and modeling community resiliency to better support mitigation and recovery planning.
