Trainee Achievements

Trainee spends week in residence at BGBM

During the recent semester abroad in Europe, trainee Trisha Spanbauer spent a week in residence at the Botanic Garden and Botanical Museum (BGBM) in Berlin. While there, she participated in independent research on the Muller collection of diatom species from the East African lake, Malawi. This collection represents type material of many endemic East African diatoms, and she collected morphometric data on a genus of interest. While at the BGBM, she also participated in lab group meetings and learned a lot about the research of the group at BGBM. She also started a collaborative project with one of the Ph.D. students studying at the BGBM and the Free University in Berlin.
