Cognitive science courses continue

Two of our new IGERT courses were offered once again last year: Introduction to Embodied Cognitive Science (Geoff Bingham) and Cognitive Science Professional Development (Peter Todd). The first course covers key concepts of embodied cognition and their historical development, using examples from philosophy, psychology, neuroscience, robotics, and social sciences. The second course is designed to teach the professional norms of academic and applied cognitive science. Topics include: the ethical conduct of research, grant proposal writing and review, critical reading of the scientific literature, scientific writing and reviewing, presentation skills, applying for jobs, teaching, international perspectives, challenges facing underrepresented groups in science, intellectual property rights, and issues in crossdisciplinary collaboration.
