Educational sub-committee meetings

We have instituted a process whereby each IGERT trainee meets the educational sub-committee twice a semester for advisement. The objectives of these meetings include - reinforce the IGERT interdisciplinary requirements (courses as well as research); identify and discuss internship opportunities; discuss the interdisciplinary seminars in information security and privacy that the trainee has attended; solicit feedback from the IGERT fellows on improving the above aspects of the IGERT experience.

These meetings are in addition to the ones held between trainees and their advisers. The meetings have gone well and constructive feedback on current plans and operations has been solicited and received from trainees. For example, one of the trainees suggested that they be informed of all interdisciplinary seminars in information security and privacy that happen in the tri-state area year round. This suggestion is now being implemented.
