New courses created and offered

Prof. Shahriar created and offered two new courses under the IGERT program. "Advanced topics in Quatum Electronics" (taught last year) and "Special Relativity in Optics." The latter addresses many of the modern, practical applications of special relativity, including GPS timing, second order Doppler shift in atomic clocks, and the Sagnac effect for rotation sensing under various confugurations. It has been offered once, and will be offered regularly from now on. Professor Odom created a course on cold atom physics and molecules that was offered last year and is now being taught this spring.
