Trainees develop lecture series for undergrads

To fulfill the educational outreach requirement for the ERIE IGERT program, ERIE Trainees Donhauser and Earle from the University at Buffalo Department of Philosophy developed a series of lectures as an introductory undergraduate seminar on environmental philosophy and ecosystem restoration. In close collaboration with faculty at Buffalo State College (BSC), Donhauser and Earle created a course with a diverse set of topics to discuss the nature of ecosystems, the role of nature in society, the ethical and aesthetic considerations in environmental interactions, and the role of ecosystem restoration in modern society. The trainees independently built working relationships with external partners to develop a new college-level educational offering at a regional sister institution to UB, helping to strengthen relationships between institutional departments and faculty that can help encourage future research and educational collaboration.
