Achievement

Katie Spellman, IGERT Fellow, has partnered with communities of the Bristol Bay area to assess the vulnerability of important subsistence resources to invasion of non-local plant species. Her work, undertaken in cooperation with RAP associate Nicole Swenson, will involve development of a prototype model that will project changes in habitat resulting in different climate scenarios and mitigation measures. Katie is also developing an educational component to her study on invasive species that will be used in Alaskan K-12 classrooms.
