Graduate digital media courses

A key goal of our IGERT was to develop a set of graduate digital media courses that could be attended by students with engineering, behavioral and social science, design and arts preparations. The initial plan included 20 courses. We have now consolidated all needed knowledge into a regular rotation of 10 courses with permanent line numbers. We achieved consolidation and integration by focusing on meta-structures (i.e. understanding human activity) rather than specific disciplinary subjects (i.e. computer vision, audio analysis etc). This integrative set of courses will serve the ASU graduate community well past the length of the IGERT. To ensure that students have a shared foundation that allows them to participate in these courses we have developed a required 1st year, two semester introductory course. We are also instituting a series of entrance exams which will guide students to our new digital culture undergraduate courses if they have deficiencies in some areas.
