Scholars in Residence (SIR)

M-EID sponsored SIR Dr. Samantha Wisely, whose research uses both ecological and molecular tools to investigate how alteration of the environment affects biological processes at multiple scales. Her research is multidisciplinary and intersects with most IGERT trainee research projects or interests. SIRs are in residence from a few days to a week or more, and offer seminars and intensive workshops which are open to participants outside the M-EID program and advertised widely on campus, providing trainees with access to a diversity of scholars in a range of disciplines whose interests are relevant to the ecology of infectious diseases, and enable students to apply and build upon concepts and skills learned in core M-EID courses. These experiences provide international cross-cultural exposure, networking opportunities and include career development discussions beyond their intellectual content.
