Novel structures for Terahertz waves

We have IGERT trainees and students from Electrical Engineering Department and Physics Department teaming up to work on the design and realization of novel broadband anti-reflection structures for Terahertz waves. The newly engineered structures are functional from 0.2 THz to over 7.3 THz with a remarkable relative 3 dB bandwidth of 116.3%. The finding was published in Optics Letters in September 2010, entitled “Three-dimensional inverted photonic grating with engineerable refractive indices for broadband antireflection of terahertz waves”.
