New two semester course

We have determined that IGERT coursework should play a key role in the building of a transdisciplinary community. We are partly addressing this need through a two semester course titled "Experiential Media Methodology and Theory". The course will be required for incoming students and will concern teaching what are the fundamental methodologies involved in research in Media Arts and Sciences as well as a transdisciplinary survey of related people, institutions, history, and theoretical frameworks. Part of the course will also help develop knowledge about how to practice collaborative research in Media Arts and Sciences through students studying active research groups in our IGERT and developing insight into how transdisciplinary research has processes and outcomes that differ from discipline-specific research. This is crucial for students coming from disciplinary undergraduate training. Students will also develop their own experiential media systems and work in collaborative teams.
