Achievement

The Annual Learning with Disability (LwD) Winter Workshop, "Exploring the User Experience" was held at Wright State University on December 3-4, 2009. The workshop was hosted by the LwD IGERT fellows with approximately 50 students, faculty, staff and practitioners in attendance. Highlights included presentations from the keynote speakers; Dr. Edward C. Bell, Director, Professional Development and Research, Institute on Blindness, Louisiana Tech University and Darren Kall, former Senior Director of Global Experience Design, Lexis-Nexis. The agenda also included: Mike Wood, The Eastern Regional Manager for Freedom Scientific; Dr. Kim Bigelow on "Traumatic Injuries"; Dr. Larry James and Dr. Jeff Allen presented on "Traumatic Brain Injuries". The conference attendees also heard a presentation on "Funding Availability" from the Ohio Board of Regents/Rehabilitation Services. The workshop included two panel discussions; "Visually Impaired Client" and "A Client Centered Perspective".
