Tropical taxonomic descriptions published

IGERT Trainee Josh Atwood helped describe three new species of tropical forest plants on his CIIP Internship assignment at the Bernice P. Bishop Museum of Natural History in Honolulu, Hawaii. The taxanomic descriptions were recently published in the journal Austrobaileya. Prior to his internship, Mr. Atwood had little experience in plant taxonomy and systematics. He demonstrated himself to be a quick-study and made a significant contribution to the description of the new species. Other aspects of Mr. Atwood's work on invasive plants in Hawaii during his CIIP Internship were published in NSF's Live Science in 2009.
