Trainees host workshop for conservationists

Trainees in the Coastal Institute IGERT Project (CIIP) organized and delivered an informative workshop to determine how land trusts and other members of the conservation community might adjust their activities now to be responsive to climate change impacts to their portfolios of protected lands. The workshop was attended by 80 conservationists from academia, state and federal resource management organizations, land trusts, and non-profit institutions such as The Nature Conservancy. Trainees summarized the results of the workshop and priority actions which are now posted on a trainee-developed web site. These include recommendations for how the conservation community can adapt to climate change impacts in land acquisition, restoration, and stewardship.
