Issue of efficiency in bioremediation

The IGERT project has enabled Fellow Doug Hakkarinen's research group to identify novel possibilities to address the issue of efficiency in bioremediation. Without the analytical chemistry and environmental science inputs (from non-Fellows on the team), it would have been impossible to understand the scope of sensitivity required for the bioremediation contamination at our site. The involvement of computer science enabled exploration into sensors and understanding what sensors can be considered for a wireless sensor network. As a research group, this has led us to understand what is not currently possible and more importantly expand possibilities of what sensing is possible.
