Trainees and assocites implement research seminar

Nine IGERT students (5 trainees, 4 associates) implemented a fall student-run Research Seminar. Participants presented their research to interdisciplinary peers and received feedback through constructive peer evaluation surveys. The comfortable forum was highly effective for expanding knowledge, strengthening interdisciplinary communication skills, and fostering peer networks. One trainee commented, "I learned about a lot of research projects spanning topics as varied as chemical engineering to cancer biology to material science. Importantly, I got feedback on how to communicate my research to a group of non-experts. Furthermore, I got to know fellow graduate students from several departments and feel more comfortable interacting with those students in both social and professional settings."
