Face versus non-face categorization

In a cross-disciplinary collaboration Vladimir Pavlovic and Thomas V. Papathomas performed analyses of EEG signals for face versus non-face categorization. Traditionally, these analyses are done in an ad hoc fashion. This analysis was one of the first systematic efforts to isolate spatial brain areas and temporal EEG markers that are reliable in signalling differences for face versus non-face stimuli. The results from three major classifiers (logistic regression, kNN, and group LASSO) reveal strong correlations in spatio-temporal responses. The results of the analysis have been submitted for presentations in the 2010 IEEE International Workshop On Machine Learning For Signal Processing.
