Faculty develop new IGERT courses

Our IGERT faculty have continued to develop new courses designed for the IGERT curriculum, and to position these courses so that they will remain a continuing part of the Materials Science (MSEN) interdisciplinary program offerings in the future. Benzerga taught the new crosslisted Nanomechanics course for a second time, this year adding a new hands-on lab component addressing a need for MSEN program. Cagin taught the new IGERT Computational Materials Science and Engineering Course, gaining a wider audience this time with students from six different departments. In the final year of their NUE grant, Karaman, Creasy, and Teizer further developed the Nanomanufacturing course as a service course both for IGERT students as well as for advanced undergraduates. Ounaies further developed the Multifunctional Materials course which was taken by several of our IGERT students, and designed a new polymers and soft materials course to be positioned as a new MSEN core course this fall.
