Understanding energy conversion in fuel cells

Task Three team's research object is to understand energy conversion in fuel cells. The synthetic research group led by Mays (Chem) has modified the synthesis of poly(1,3-cyclohexadiene)-based proton exchange fuel cell membranes by blending or copolymerizing poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) to successfully exceed proton conductivity requirement specified by Department of Energy's Year 3 Milestone. The modeling group of Keffer (Chemical Biomolecular Engineering) now plans to model these materials for a better understanding of the structure and transport mechanisms.
