Research Achievements

Increased interdisciplinary communication

Students are developing a better understanding and appreciation of the knowledge that is available from scientists and engineers in other disciplines. This has led to more interdisciplinary communication and research development. For example, a materials science Trainee Everett is working with chemistry Trainee Ward to improve a synthesis processes. Both are relying on chemical engineer Associate Suraweera to help them understand the structure and modeling of the final product. Weekly meetings promote the informational flow and allow Trainee researchers to compare technologies and processes. We feel this will lead to a higher quality research from all of the students.
