3-day advanced instrumentation workshop

9 masters-level advanced undergraduate students from CalState LA Cal Poly Pomona came to CNSI for a 3-day advanced instrumentation workshop. The program provided students with foundation knowledge hands-on experience in microscopy, AFM enhanced the students' current research, as well as their preparation for graduate work in materials. The program introduced students their mentors to the UCLA campus the MCTP program helped establish a peer network mentoring relationships among the workshop participants our IGERT trainees. The workshop introduced the research of the participants their mentors to UCLA faculty, which we hope will build a stronger pipeline between our programs initiate new collaborations and partnerships. The participants interacted with IGERT trainees and faculty at the lunches and dinners on each of the three days of the workshop. The participants were impressed felt the program gave them great insight into the expectations of a graduate program.
