Website promotes interdisciplinary scholarship

Trainees and Associates in the CHANGE capstone course were able to take their IGERT training and make elements of it available to a wider audience. Three students (Andrew Stuhl, Dadit Hidayat, and Minhye Park) developed a website (SustainAbilities - http://www.sustainabilities.wisc.edu) that promotes interdisciplinary scholarship, hosts videos describing the promise and pitfalls of interdisciplinary research efforts, and offers training exercises targeted at specific problems of interdisciplinary collaboration. SustainAbilities focuses on the connection between interdisciplinary training and environmental sustainability research (e.g., the need for natural science, social science, and humanist perspectives on environmental problems, the difficulty of communicating across disciplinary cultures, etc.). The site was recently made public, and we will be continuing to explore its value as a teaching and publicity tool.
