Stretchable electrode arrays

IGERT faculty John Rogers and Todd Coleman and their research groups have recently developed a class of stretchable electrode arrays capable of intimate, conformal integration onto the curvilinear surfaces of skin on the human body. These arrays are capable of recording without the use of conductive gels. The results suggest broad utility for skin-mounted measurements of neural signals and might, therefore, offer significant possibilities for biomedical applications that hinge on the measurement of bio-electrical signals, such as brain-machine interfaces or neural prosthetics.
