Expanding trainees' computational repertoire

The field of functional genomics has always been an area of cutting edge changes in technology and concepts. In recognition of these changes, we revamped part of our curriculum to give students in the program greater exposure, including hands on experience with computational skills sets that expand their computational repertoire. This includes learning to program in R and to analyze transcriptome-wide data sets. As they worked on a research problem they were also given several opportunities to present their work both orally and in writing.
