UPitt develops relationship with Brazilian colleagues

Through UPitt's continued effort to develop a strong relationship with our Brazilian colleagues, two professors from Brazil - Dr. Vanessa Silva da Gomes and Dr. Maristela Silva da Gomes - are visiting scholars at UPitt. Dr. Vanessa Gomes was awarded a Fulbright scholarship to support her efforts during her tenure at UPitt to further develop and enhance UPitt's education and research efforts related to life cycle assessment and green construction materials. Dr. Maristela Gomes was awarded faculty support from CAPES in support of the FIPSE-CAPES program that UPitt was awarded to support undergraduate students from the United States interested in studying in Brazil and vice versa. Their arrival and tenure at UPitt was critical in further developing a productive relationship with our IGERT trainees. Drs. Gomes are both working on a sustainable community initiative with IGERT trainees Cassandra Thiel and Scott Shrake; in addition, they will serve as lecturers in the Fall semester.
