Using social information to guide behavior

IGERT trainee Skylar Place, who studies how people use information present in their social environments to guide their own behavior, was able to expand his research in several interesting new directions. Specifically, new interactions with IGERT faculty member Eliot Smith and fellow IGERT trainee Thomas Wisdom have added a new dimension to Skylar's research, namely, looking at the social environment as a network of relationships. In addition, his interactions with IGERT colloquium speaker Asif Ghazanfar has led him to think about the connections between the multi-second oscillations in the brain that Prof. Ghazanfar was looking at, and the oscillatory behaviors at the same time-scale of socially-interacting people that Skylar is studying.
